Closing in five days: a month-end rebuild

How one National Society moved its close from twenty-two days to five without new software.

The Society was closing its month twenty-two working days after period end, which meant management accounts arrived after the decisions they were meant to inform.

No system was replaced. The engagement reordered the sequence, moved four reconciliations to a continuous basis, gave every task a named owner, and stopped the practice of holding the ledger open for late entries.

Close now lands on day five. The Society is not named here.
