Conformance

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Partially conformant means some content does not fully meet the standard. The exceptions are listed below.

What the site does

• Skip to content is the first focusable element on every page.
• Focus is visible everywhere. outline: none is not used.
• A card is a single tab stop and its title carries the accessible name. Meta, tags and thumbnails are not separate stops.
• The featured carousel pauses on hover and on focus, responds to arrow keys, and exposes its dots as buttons. Nothing important lives only inside it.
• The library facet rail is keyboard operable, including its mobile drawer, and returns focus to the trigger on close.
• Form labels are always visible. Errors appear inline under the field and are summarised on submit, always with an icon as well as colour.
• Under prefers-reduced-motion nothing auto-advances and the hover lift becomes a border change.
• The site is built to be readable with web fonts blocked and images failing, on a constrained connection.

Languages and direction

The site is published in English. The layout is built with logical properties throughout, so the Arabic build works in dir="rtl" rather than as a separate site.

Where the site does not meet the standard

• White text on the official IFRC red is 4.25:1. That meets AA for large text and for user interface components, and does not meet the 4.5:1 required for body copy. The red is set by the IFRC brand palette. Copy on red bands is therefore display type at 16px or larger, and no body copy is set on red.
• The dashboard embed is a third-party component whose accessibility the Centre does not control. Every figure it reports is also published as text on the global KPI page.
• Français, Español and العربية are not available.
